Welcome to the OVCA

The Chair

Mad For it !!

The Oakley Vale Community Association (OVCA) is a volunteer run organisation that is constantly working to make Oakley Vale a beautiful place to live. Set up in November 2006 by a number of residents wanting to get the best place to live that they can. Over the last 5 years we have, amongst other things, successfully campaigned for road adoptions; had two post boxes installed; worked with Places for People and CBC to get phase 5 re-developed to an acceptable standard for residents; and organised and run three very successful Oki Doki Family Fun Days. We also run a very successful youth group called the Oakley Rangers who represent us around the county with their music group, and who will shortly be starting up a sports division. New children are always welcome, please see the Oakley Rangers section of the website for more information.

Our current projects include campaigning for proper noise and pollution mitigation from the A43, which will pass within less than 200 meters of OV at its closest point; working with the borough council to design a community centre that offers the best facilities possible for residents; the installation of seven new bins on the estate, including three surrounding the playing fields; supporting the council in a bid for funding towards two new play parks; and organising this years Family Fun Day (Saturday 16th July) – please see the Current Projects area of the website for details on these projects and more.

About Your Chair

My name is Adrian Smith, and I moved to OV in December 2006 with my wife, Claire. We were extremely impressed with Corby and the regeneration that the area is enjoying, and Oakley Vale epitomises that development. Following the birth of my daughter in 2008 I became a member of the OVCA, and joined the committee in December 2009. I was elected Treasurer in March 2010 and enjoyed this position tremendously, ensuring the association moved to a more electronic system. In May 2011 the sitting Chair announced his resignation due to increasing work commitments and I agreed to step up to the position to ensure a smooth transition.

This is a position I thoroughly enjoy, I am highly motivated to continue the good work that the previous Chairs have started, and I will work hard to make sure that residents get answers to the issues that concern them, and to keep improving Oakley Vale in as many ways as possible. If you have any comments about OV, or any concerns that you think we could help you with, please drop me a line at chair@yourOVCA.com.

We are a not-for-profit organisation, and we rely on the support and help of OV residents and our members. If you live on Oakley Vale and want to play your part in helping us to make it a special place to live, please consider supporting us either by shopping through our Support Us section, donating via Paypal with the link below, or by joining us as a member.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those few people that give up their time to help me lead the good ship OVCA. Without them we would not be able to do the work we do, and we are always looking for new people with new ideas. If you have skills that you think could benefit us and would like to help us support the community, please let us know.  For more information on the current committee members please check out the About Us section.

If you want to get to know us better, or want any more information, why not come along to our next Open General Meeting (see the Calendar of Events) and see what we are up to. Alternatively you can follow us on Twitter (@yourOVCA), find us on Facebook, or join us on our forum.
