Second School

We can confirm that NCC have begun negotiations to acquire the  land on Butland Road for a second Primary School. This will look to open in September 2013 with a two form entry.  We are in close contact with the council and they have assured us that the OVCA and our members will be  an important part of the school provider selection process.

Council Tax

We are currently investigating if residents on Oakley Vale have been wrongly banded. We will feedback at one of our OGMs when we have more information.

Play Parks

We are working with Corby Borough Council to bring two more children’s play areas to Oakley Vale on Phase 2 and Phase 5. Work should begin on both within the next 6 months.

Primary School

We have recently agreed to make a donation to Oakley Vale Primary School to allow them to install an external power supply. We hope this is just the first action in a developing partnership.

Allotments

We have been working with our Neighborhood Wardens to identify an area on Oakley Vale for resident allotments. This site is currently undergoing soil tests to ensure its suitability.

Community Centre

We have recently hosted an open meeting with CBC representatives and the main Architect at which the latest plans for the facility were shared with us. Residents of OV subsequently fedback to the Architects changes they would like to see following comments and discussions between all. The OVCA will keep in regular contact with the Architects and will feedback progress on a regular basis.

 A43

We are working hard to  ensure that OV gets appropriate noise and pollution mitigation from the new A43. The road will pass within a few 100 metres of our primary school. Members of the County Council responsible for the design of this road will be at our OGM on the 27th, details below.

Notice Board

We are working with our local county councilor to try and bring a community notice board to Charter Court. Discussions with the local land owner are ongoing regarding the location of the board.

Trees!

In partnership with  CBC and the Oakley Rangers, we have applied for a Big Tree Plant grant to plant hundreds of new trees on the estate. In addition to this we are growing many trees ourselves to replace those vandalised on the estate, and we have asked CBC to identify a location on the estate for us to use as a tree nursery to continue this project in greater numbers.
