Does anybody have any idea of the purpose of the earth bank currently being \"constructed\" along much of Lyveden Way and what purpose it might serve in the longer term other than to waste money?

Earth banks are generally used to stop people gaining vehicular access to the land beyond in order to prevent fly tipping which is a problem, also travellors parking up caravans as has happened in the past in Corby.

That was my original thought but given we\'ve not really had that problem along here (yet - the trench along the side of the footpath had clearly done the job) and the manpower and effort that\'s being put into what is now more than 2 metres high in places there seems to be some other motive behind the work. The number of surveyors (some from an environmental company from what was painted on their van) and measurement work also points to this being more of a permanent feature rather than a temporary obstruction to a potential nuisance.
Besides which, caravan and vehicular access would still be easy, all anybody would do is go to either end or through the gap at the Butland Road roundabout. All this bank would achieve in that case is hide any unsavoury action from people at ground level while it would still be visible to those of us who live along the road.
In addition to this, it\'s now possible for anybody walking along the top of the bank to have clear views into any un-curtained upper floor rooms and the bank may also have the effect of reflecting road noise back at the houses opposite.
