Have some ripe fruits containing Asparagus seeds, old varieties, but can't remember the name at the moment. Have potted up all that I need to hopefully germinate and produce crowns for planting next year. If you would like some of the remaining seeds then contact me before our November open meeting at the grampian Club.

Still have some Asparagus seeds and was given some Quince seeds and Damson cuttings, so will know in the spring if I will have some new seedlings. Have a few young Purple Buddleia plants if anyone wants one. Hope to have the Pink and white next year. Also hope to have some spare Goji Bushes, Apple seedlings, cooking and eating, and Pear seedlings as well. Will be doing some reconnoitering around the Estate over the winter for likely places to plant out in the spring. If you know of any suitable places, like your front or back garden, or nearby open space, then contact me at any of the open meetings. In the meantime have been busy this past few weeks making some jam and jelly, so now find myself without any more glass jars with accompanying metal lids. So if you have some clean, empty, jam or pickle jars going spare, let me know or bring them along to the OGM at the Grampian on Wednesday 25th, this month.

OK. So it was the coldest winter for 30 years, and as a result of the bad weather, some of the seedlings lost the battle and died. With the little bit of sunshine we've been getting and the rise in temperature everything is starting to break into bud. Planted a load of seeds last Autumn, so will have to wait to see if they have survived the winter. Have now planted the rest of the seeds I collected last year, so keeping fingers crossed for the next few weeks. Now's a good time to be taking cuttings, so if you have any to spare they'd be most welcome. Thanks to those of you who have given me their old plastic plant pots, a lot are already in use with the seeds I've planted. Still on the lookout for more, especially the larger sizes, as some of the cuttings I planted last year now need potting on. If you find any self seeded tree seedlings in your garden, please do not just dig up and throw away. Get in touch, as I'm happy to collect. Will have some spare Blue Buddleia plants in the coming weeks, if you would like one, see me at the AGM later this week. Also have various seeds going spare, Sunflower, Squash and Cucumber etc..

With the warmer weather everything is starting to grow, including the weeds. If anyone is changing a room carpet in the coming months and not keeping the old carpet. Do not throw it out. Can use it to keep the weeds down on the Allotment. Happy to collect, so get in touch if you are wanting rid of a carpet, any size acceptable.

Nice to see Oakley Vale residents out picking the Sloes and Rosehips that are growing in various locations around the Estate. Have been a bit adventurous and made some Rosehip Jam as well as Syrup, also found recipes for Sloe Syrup and Jam. Also had some good news with regard having Allotments, so if you are interested make sure you have your name down on the waiting list.

Have heard that soil tests have been carried out on the land that has been chosen as the location for the Allotments. Hopefully everything will be fine so lets hope we have some news soon.

Been a good year for Blackberries as over the last few weeks have collected lots. Have used them to make Fruit Cordial, Jams and Preserves and also try my hand at Blackberry Brandy. Also had a bumper crop of new strawbery plants, too many for my own needs, so if you would like some then get in touch before they all go as I\'ve posted on the local Freecycle website.
