Oakley Rangers
Our youth group, the Oakley Rangers (OR), have been shortlisted for the Spirit of Corby awards two years in a row. They are also featured on a Corby Community CD with some original tracks! The Rangers offer free music lessons and are always looking to recruit, and regularly perform to the local community.
Post Boxes
The OVCA successfully campaigned for and helped to get two post boxes installed on the estate.
Bins
Seven new bins have recently been installed on the estate including three surrounding the playing fields. This follows the installation of two bins previously following pressure from the OVCA.
Places for People
The OVCA held an open meeting with Places for People which was attended by over 250 residents. This resulted in Places for People substantially altering the plans for their Phase 5 development to the benefit of the community.
Oakley Vale Primary School
The OVCA were involved in the formation of shadow governors for OVPS, which subsequently appointed the successful Head-teacher. We have also donated a Christmas tree to the school.
Grit
During the bad weather of recent years, the OVCA were involved in negotiations to get gritters to the estate, in addition to the placement of yellow grit bins on Oakley Vale.
